The Sixty-Eight Rooms
Join Ruthie and Jack on an adventure through the Thorne Rooms of the Chicago Art Institute by reading The Sixty-Eight Rooms by Marianne Malone. Ruthie breathlessly waits for something, ANYTHING to happen in her life. She and Jack discover a magic key which unlocks a secret in the sixty-eight miniature rooms designed by Mrs. James Ward Thorne. Will they figure out the mystery of the key’s origin? Find out in the first book of this series.
Written for ages 9-12, The Sixty-Eight Rooms deliver a taste of history, and suspense. In a very few places the dialogue doesn’t ring true and the prose is clunky, but overall a fun and engaging read. My nine-year old asked me to find the next book in the series — a high endorsement from her.
