A Sweet Way to Spend a Birthday

The Pick: Truffles From Heaven by Kali Schnieders

The Premise: Each of us have little moments when God does something special in our lives. Author Kali Schnieders imagines these times to be as lovely as a luscious chocolate truffle.

The Pros and Cons: In case you didn’t know this already, I am writing this post while on vacation with my family. In fact, it is my birthday today and we are driving back to Miami from the Florida Keys. I needed a book that was short and sweet to allow me to be present with my family while still meeting my goal. Truffles From Heaven fit that slot perfectly. Plus, I love truffles. They’re like, one of my favorites.

In Truffles From Heaven, Kali Schnieders shares stories from her life where she spotted God’s hand, moments she calls “pennies from heaven,” or “truffles from heaven.” Her goal is to lead her readers to spot those moments as well. She invites us to “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Psalm 34:8) This book had a bite of everything — romance, loss, friendship, fear, and joy. A sweet little (120 pint size pages) book, Truffles From Heaven reminded me to spot the extraordinary in the everyday.

The Perfect Book For: Tucking into someone’s Christmas gift alongside these beauties.

Not truffles, but my family did enjoy a sweet (and sour!) treat. Key Lime Pie!
