The Pick: Key Lime Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke
The Plot: Hannah Swensen once again finds herself in the center of a mystery. Who would steal from a county fair? And would that person also kill to cover it up? Hannah joins forces with friends and family to to track down a killer while also keeping running a bakery.
The Pros and Cons: If you’ve been following my progress this month, you are well aware that my family and I are currently on vacation. You may have also picked up on the fact that over the past few days we crossed something off my travel bucket list — driving from Miami to Key West on the Overseas Highway. We’ve been planning this adventure for months and I have to say, it did not disappoint. Being suspended on a bridge between the sky and ocean, nothing but blues and greens as far as the eye could glimpse, made me laugh out loud. My kids think I’m crazy, but I loved it.
Key Lime Pie Murder with its bright green cover was the meringue topping on my Florida Key adventure. I’d never read anything by Joanne Fluke before, and even though this novel is in the middle of the series, I knew it MUST go on the #30inNovember list. I give this book two forks up! (Is that a thing? Maybe there should be a James Beard award for mystery novels revolving around food…) A funny, engaging, poignant, tasty, and all around entertaining read. When I get home, I’ll be starting at the beginning of the series.
The only drawback to Key Lime Pie Murder was that I really wanted to whip up one of the treat recipes included in the book, and I’m not at home with my own kitchen!
The Perfect Book For: Mystery buffs, baked goods lovers, and anyone who enjoys a good county fair.
P.S. I bought a fancy Key West soap to put with the other prize items I’ve been collecting. Have you subscribed to my email yet?
