Mom! Phineas and Ferb are Making a Book Review!

The Pick: Phineas and Ferb, Wild Surprise by Disney

The Plot: During their summer vacation Phineas and Ferb decide to make their sister, Candace, and their mother’s birthdays extra special.

The Pros and Cons: There are few cartoons that tickle my funny bone more than Phineas and Ferb. The ways they choose to spend their summer vacation — having epic adventures in their backyard and beyond — and the way Candace is always trying to get them in trouble (“Mom! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence!”) makes me laugh every time. The icing on the cake? They own a pet platypus. A platypus who is a secret agent.

I’m all about the birthday theme right now, so when I found Wild Surprise at the Valley Bookseller in Stillwater, MN (thanks, guys!) I knew it must go on the #30inNovember list.

Ok, honesty time. I enjoyed the book, I really did. However, it wasn’t quite the same as watching an episode. Some of the funny interactions, puns, and visual humor gets lost when in writing. And yet, now that I know Phineas and Ferb are in print, I’ll definitely be looking up more of them. I recommend this series to fans of crazy schemes, evil villains being thwarted by platypus heroes, and summer vacations that never seem to end.

The Perfect Book For: Readers 7 and up, especially fans of the animated TV show.
