Guys! My Friend Wrote a Book! Bonus: Giveaway!!
We’re at a point in human history where you can call someone “friend” without ever meeting them face to face. Technology brings our world closer than ever. Today’s book review is a review of a book a friend of mine wrote - a friend I only know online. I met Xochitl Dixon through a contest wherein I was attempting to win a prize. Instead I won a friend. Cue the “awwww’s”. You may feel she is a friend as well, because she is a frequent writer for Our Daily Bread and I know many of you read that publication. Every time I spot one of her devotionals in ODB I have a secret grin, because, you know, I KNOW her!
As this is a blogging book tour (Book blogging tour? Tour of book blogs?), all the info on what Waiting for God is about, as well as more info about Xochitl is below and I will only be giving you my review, not a synopsis of the book. Don’t forget to scroll down to find the link to the giveaway!
Waiting for God ministered to me with truth and encouragement. I especially appreciated chapter 11 where Xochitl Dixon remind readers of God’s many names and how He is unchanging and unfailing. She closes the chapter with the beautiful Bible verse: “The Lord give strength to His people, the Lord blesses His people with peace.” Psalm 29:11
I recommend Waiting for God to anyone who is in a time of waiting. The short chapters, meant to be read over the course of a month, are just long enough to give you something to ponder through the day. This would also be a great book to have on hand to give to a friend going through a difficult time.
What is your favorite verse when you are waiting?

Inhale God’s Word. Exhale in prayer. Rest in God’s love.
If your heart is weary and longing for answers—for healing, for provision, for miracles—Waiting for God renews your hope with strong biblical truth and encouraging Scripture-based prayer.
Conquer your fears and frustrations as you inhale God’s Word, exhale in prayer, and rest in God’s love. Live a life of deeper connection and immediate communion with God that can lead to contentment in His constant presence, no matter what your days hold or how long God’s deliberate delays may last.
Xochitl Dixon writes each chapter with heart-touching transparency and vulnerability, as she shares her own story as well as the stories of others who are trusting God through waiting seasons with no apparent end in sight. As a woman who lives with chronic pain, Xochitl understands constant struggle yet chooses to put God on the throne of her life.
