This Book Isn't Quite What You'd Expect

With that being said, I still recommend Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and here’s why: Eleanor is not completely fine. I know, big surprise, but, during her journey to mental health we learn a lot about true friendship, respectful interactions with others, and treating people with kindness. Eleanor’s straightforward approach to life is refreshing and sometimes laugh out loud funny. I’d like to share a cup of tea with her sometime.

You've GOT to Meet Cricket

Sometimes when I really delight in a book, when I’m basking in the afterglow of a well written novel, I have a harder time reviewing said tome. What Will You Do If The Lights Go Out?

I’m a sucker for a good post-apocalyptic novel and The Light did not disappoint. The characters faced realistic problems and solved them in (mostly) realistic ways. This is the first book in The Light series, and I can see the author is going to have a lot of fun developing the storyline and characters further. I look forward to reading the rest of the books, but maybe I’d better wait until after #30inNovember!

Yes, I am reading another Pride and Prejudice adaptation. It’s my birthday this month and I can read what I want to! (No, seriously, my 40th birthday is THIS week. I know, crazy, right? This seems like a good time to remind you that if I get 30 new email subscribers in November I will be sending out a prize package to someone on my email list. Know a book reader who needs new suggestions? Send them the link to my sign-up.)

Before We Were Yours

"Before We were Yours" by Lisa Wingate popped up on several of my Facebook reading groups (yes, I belong to several — don’t judge!). So, I did what I usually do in that situation, I put it on hold at the library. Boy, was I shocked to see that I was number 342 in line for the book! A more rational, less stubborn person would have gone out an bought the book, but not me. I settled in for the long wait. My number finally came up and I scooted over to the library before they gave it to someone else.
