Watch, Wait, Wonder -- Part 6
My Dear Readers, three days later, on a Sunday morning, in the middle of a garden, God’s plan stood completed. On that wonderful, beautiful Sunday morning, the earth trembled and shook. The stone rolled away. The grave opened.
Jesus was alive. In that garden, on that Sunday morning, the head of the serpent was crushed.
Now oh death where is your victory? Oh death where is your sting?
He’s alive, he’s alive and I’m forgiven, Heaven’s gates have opened wide!
Dear readers, this story, The story, God’s story, is for you. Like Eve we have all, like sheep, gone astray, we all have tasted the poisoned fruit of sin. And the wages of sin is death. Only death.
But the good news is that the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus. Because of His great love for us, Christ lived, died, and was raised to life to restore our relationship with him.
To those of you who do not know Jesus, this story is for you. God invites you, He calls you to Himself. He calls you to know his great love. Jesus’ death on the cross paid your debt. You can be clean and forgiven.
And to those of you who are already walking with Christ, this story is for you. As believers we know the joy of walking with God in the garden. We know the joy of open communication.
But sometimes we let our sin suck the joy from communing with God.
Like Eve in the garden, we hide from the Lord. We forget the promise in 1 John 1:9 “If you confess your sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you are walking with Jesus, remember the promise in Isaiah “Come now, let us reason together, though your sins were scarlet they shall be as white as snow.”
My friends, my sisters in Christ, there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.
Not our circumstances,
not our sins,
not our doubt,
not our pain.
God is with us in all circumstances, He daily forgives all our sins, He helps our doubt, and He heals our pain.
Because of His great love, God set His rescue plan in motion.
Because of His great love He sent His perfect Son to live, to die, and to rise again.
Because of His great love we can live with Him forever, and talk to him face to face.
And that, my friends, is the greatest story.
